GC13 and Sophia discuss Room for Ruby.
Well gee, if you can’t trust the cute ones, then who can you trust? Maybe Army would have been an eager convert once she found out that there were a lot more Homeworld Gems to punch than there were Crystal Gems…
There was some more Because Cartoon logic happening in this episode, but we still got to see a lot of Navy being cute and Lapis working through some issues of her own. Definitely be prepared for an upcoming episode where having that ship would have been really handy, though.
Search your heart, you know it be true.

Love listening every week. Miss having the whole team though. Think that will ever davehappen again?

Hunter’s been busy with theater stuff, so he’s been unavailable for an extended period.
This time with the Rubies is different than with Peridot. Peridot didn’t know who the Crystal Gems were, so I wouldn’t be surprised if her report just said “some Gems are still on Earth”. Now the Rubies know Jasper is missing, Peridot is a traitor who has knowledge of the Cluster and is still alive, and Eyeball knows that Rose Quartz is still alive. That last one especially will get the attention of the Diamonds, and they are going to believe the Rubies, otherwise why would they trust them to go on a solo operation?
As for the convenience of Ruby’s landing, that’s not a “because cartoon” thing, that’s just narrative convenience. Same thing happened in Warp Tour, where Steven just happened to catch sight of one of the flask robonoids, and one conveniently lands right IN his house. Considering the size of the planet and how many flask robonoids there were in total, that is also very unlikely. The issue with “because cartoon” logic is when it values comedy over being logically in-character.
I’d also say they even more strongly deconstructed Steven’s knack for Gem conversion when Jasper had her rant while corrupting.

The robonoid landed in Steven’s house because there was a warp pad in his house and the robonoids were repairing the domestic warp network to the best of their abilities before converging on the Galaxy Warp.
But do we know they were also aimed at the warp pads? I’m sure they are programmed to seek them out, but the thing miraculously landed within a few feet of it. While we still don’t know everything about Rose, it’s looking like a bit of a coincidence that she had Steven within a few decades of the Cluster situation coming up. And beyond this episode, I can’t think of other recent episodes that relied on this kind of statistically unlikely coincidence. It’s not just a “cartoon” thing to rely on coincidences.
