And so, with a hiatus upon us, this is the last speculation post we’ll be writing about a new episode for a while. Yesterday’s lore post showed that we hit a good haul there, so of course there’s stuff left over to speculate over—it’s the Steven Universe way.
What did we learn from Reformed?
Well Reformed definitely answered some questions, and you don’t get any points for guessing what we learned about. Still, in the interests of keeping most spoilers off of the main page, you’re just going to have to read more if you want to be sure that your guess was correct.
Immediate reaction to Reformed
Alright, first off the big hype: we got to see new parts of the temple! Sure, they’re non-functional, but it’s still more than we saw during season one. Really, the amount of apparently dead space in the temple is quite perplexing. Hmmmmmmm… Need more evidence, need so much more evidence.
Of course that may be the big hype but it’s not the big lore information we’ve got. We now know far more about a Gem’s reformation process than we ever did before, which is kind of a big deal. Of course it wouldn’t be Steven Universe if this wasn’t delivered in such a way as to bring up even more questions, but we’re making progress!
Unfortunately, the bad news: we still have no more information about upcoming episodes, so we have to assume that the summer hiatus has begun. Last year we didn’t get new episodes for three months, which again leaves us waiting until August for new Steven.
Endure. In enduring grow strong.
What to expect from Reformed
Well, just to get things out of the way: if anything bad happens to Pearl in this episode, we can be certain that it will be brief, perhaps even taken care of by the end of the episode. The commercials have only shown Amethyst, however, and… Well, there’s a chance that the title might be referring to her.
There is no new episode scheduled for next week, so be prepared for this to be the last episode we get before the summer hiatus. We went through this last year, we can survive it again.

Ken, GC13, and Dakota talk about the second Lamar Abrams / Hellen Jo episode to air in a row: Love Letters, and Ken delivers a full-throated defense of the previous episode: Shirt Club.
We get the introduction of Sadie’s mother, some actual characterization for Jamie, and even some more adorable interaction between Steven and Connie. We also get food for thought: is Kansas really a film hub, or did Jamie not feel like he had what it took to try his hand at acting in Hollywood?
The next episode of Steven Universe might very well be a big one: Reformed is coming. Be sure to listen in next week for our thoughts on it!
Song of the week: Death Rag
We can’t get the idea out of our head: a montage of Jamie’s failed auditions, him dressed up in full Shakespearean garb and deep in the drama zone. With, of course, everyone’s favorite jaunty piano rag providing the background music: Death Rag (now the song of the week as well!).

What could Love Letters mean?
With all episodes from Love Letters onward being produced in season two and meant to air as part of it, it looks like it’s a great time to take stock of what the rest of the season has to offer. Of the fifty-one episodes the that are meant as part of it, we’ve only seen three. One seventeeth of the way through, how are things shaping up?
What we learned from Love Letters
Ah, character episodes. You’d think they would be our bane, since we’re definitely in love with the lore of the show. The characters give meaning to the lore though, so we’re quite happy to see Jamie return (especially if we have an episode like Reformed coming up with a premise that implies some good chances for lore).
