We raised a question yesterday, brought up by Island Adventure. Unfortunately we have no answers for you: only speculation. It’s our lot in life, and it’s a good thing we enjoy it.
Preview for Keep Beach City Weird!
This one comes in via CNPreview. Fair warning: this one seems to spoil more than is normal for these previews. Though it does look like it’s from the beginning of the episode, it’s still written like a climax and makes it look like most of the episode will be flashback.
What we learned from Island Adventure
The scenery in Island Adventure was fantastic, as was the interaction between the characters. What did we learn about Gems, though?
Immediate reaction to Island Adventure
Island Adventure is another Sadie and Lars episode that seems to have picked up right where Joking Victim left off. The feels are strong with this one, but the magical elements are a bit stronger thanks to the setting.
This was another lore-light episode, but we did get a new location to add to the list later. Unlike the sky spire from Giant Woman, though, the tropical island (underneath the molten lava—no! No singing!) isn’t obviously tampered with (aside from the presence of the warp pad, which signifies that it had some reason for Gems to come to it).
What to expect from Island Adventure
We (most of us, anyway) will get to see Island Adventure on Thursday. This is going to be another Sadie and Lars episode, and will feature another song from Steven (though unfortunately it lacks the phrase “on a tropical island” despite being ripe for the reference to Ms. Sugar’s work on Adventure Time).
The bulk of the action will take place on what looks to be a very Gem-touched island, with Steven, Sadie, and Lars trapped there (probably because Steven isn’t the warp master after all). We might see enough of the island to divine its purpose (we’re putting money on tourist destination, but don’t look at us: we don’t have all the answers—that’s the hula dancers’ job), but as is par for the course nothing will be dwelled on.
In the preview, the Crystal Gems are searching for a monster. Expect it to show up towards the end of the episode, probably cementing the bonding between Sadie and Lars we see in the song; there’s just no fun to the episode if they spend all of it putting on lotion, sitting by the ocean.
Until Thursday: get us out of this cave, because it’s nothing but a monster-Gem grave.
New episode: Keep Beach City Weird! will air on October 30, 2014
Steven Universe will have a new episode airing next Thursday at 6:45 EST.
Keep Beach City Weird!
Steven gets caught up in Ronaldo’s paranormal theories about the strange occurrences in Beach City.
Dish Network loses Cartoon Network
As a result of a contract dispute with Turner Broadcasting, Cartoon Network and six other channels are no longer available to customers of Dish Network.
Though hopefully this will be resolved quickly, it could possibly be months before Dish customers are able to watch Cartoon Network – and new episodes of Steven Universe – again.
It’s going to be okay!
Song of the week: Monster Spelunkin’
The Secret Team is on a mission again! What mission, you ask? We can’t tell you!
Alright… Maybe we can tell you a little: it’s about having fun! And Steven had so much fun with his centipeetle buddy in Monster Buddy, we’re making Monster Spelunkin’ the song of the week.
